They're aflame with the Lord God. That is's right. Dr. Well, I grew up and my pop was the pastor of a tiny country church and I might go to him and after he was preaching in Georgia in a small small church and he said,'If you would like to be a Christian, come forward,' and I was six years of age but I just felt as though I wanted to do it. I went forward and he put his arm around me and I feel a bit like the Lord did too. Yeah, I had three churches. At the same time. You had them at the same time, didn't you? Oh, yup. 3 churches. I'd evangelise one sunday at one church and one at another. Is there some experience during those circuit-riding days that stands out in your mind? Oh, there are a lot of them. My first sermon I preached l3 minutes and told them everything I knew. But I'd get up a sermon and go around and preach in all my churches and I'd start again. Well, we are coming to you live today from the city of faith Health/Care Center. We are out of doors in the beautiful Oklahoma sunshine and my special guest today is Dr. Charles Allen from Houston, Texas. Charles, God bless you. Welcome. You're a senior minister at first United Methodist in Houston for 23 years. You've served in the ministry, I know, many more years than that. But you came into the ministry through your dad as he was a minister, isn't that right? Yes, my father was pastor in North Georgia of small, agricultural churches and that is's where I got my start. Allen, your ministry is widely known. But you got your start circuit riding. You know, folks talk about.. Repeatedly I hear them talk about being pastor of the largest church. However you know, I always think about Goliath was the largest but David was the best. And to me the biggest is not the most vital. And somewhere in these small churches, I joined the church in a little one-room agricultural church and I am not so impressed with these big churches. Right over in front of the city of Faith Health/Care Center this past Sun. we broke ground for the new healing center and you were seeing some scenes there as Dave Legget was chatting, some scenes of the world-leading service that we had this past Sun.. And i'd like to stop at the moment and take a second and give you an opportunity to plant a seed to help us in the development of that healing center.
we have got a need right now and that sure is a smashing opportunity for you to get a need met in your life and I beg you this week to sit and plant a seed in this ministry. My pa, Oral Roberts, my family will be there a great amount of the time and our colaborers in this healing ministry - students, faculty, staff from Oral Roberts University - will be there to personally minister to you on a daily basis as you come to Tulsa and I'm expecting the healing center to be something amazing for you. God may steer you to plant a seed of $20, $50, $100. He may inspire you to plant a seed to sponsor one square foot of the healing center. The building is costing $48 a square foot because we're not borrowing any money. We are getting the materials at cost or below cost and we are doing the construction ourselves so we can get the price of building the healing center way down.
About Richard Roberts
Richard Roberts teaches us to expect God to multiply it back to you in the way that you have requires the most. You hear that jet airplane going over? It's leaving the Tulsa global airfield about fifteen miles from here and it's flying right over the city of faith. At this time I'm going to introduce the Oral Roberts university vocalists who are going to minister a gospel song,'This Is The Day the Lord Has Made.' Give them a good handclap.
